It all begins a day I had an exam, for which I had to read a book, which I chose to do so on my bed. The problem was I only had an average nightstand lamp, which did not help a lot because of its unfocused lighting. Though I managed to pass, I later started noticing this problem every time I read something on the bed, so I started to brainstorm ideas for a design to fix the problem.
After thinking some things the lamp should do, I had to bring it all together with "style". So I thought of mixing nature with technology. Therefore I came up with this rose concept, which is light, flexible, and it blooms, giving birth to this versatile shape-shifting shade with the mix of "style and usefulness".
Product Details
The little knob on the base is a switch, ideally a dimer switch. Additionaly, there are adjustable knobs (more unnoticed) in most of the joints, so it can stay firm in any position, its tallest being 63 cm (the black model in the last pictures).
The rails in which the shade blooms or focus are made of metal, and the shade panels have magnets in the zone were they surround the rail, making them stable in any position wanted.
This product more than anything is an atempt to do something different, that adds and expands the core functionality. In a way it shows an example of how light can change if its interfeared in diferent ways, maybe creating a new style of lamps rather than another lamp with different shape.
Focus is a lamp that works both as a nightstand lamp and a desktop lamp, for its unique shape shifting shade.
