Project title
In South Africa, potjiekos (literally meaning pot food) has been part of South Africas heritage and culture for many centuries. Cooking food in a potjie, also known as a phutu pot, is, in itself, an occasion to be celebrated by all South African cultures, regardless of race. Potjies are traditionally made around an open fire, preferably in the company of good friends or family celebrating memorable moments, with one or more potjies simmering away. That said, the concept of product design was inspired by this authentic icon of African culture. The product was designed seeking a balance between the rustic concept behind the potjies and the modern and bold proposal of the brand. The harmonious fusion between high-end wood, matte paint, titanium and stainless steel give a striking identity to the product, as well as a luxurious look given the high end materials used in the construction. Culture and ethics can be preserved or progressed, if this is possible on a coherent basis, improving on rather than stagnating or degenerating it. The Potjie plays a significant role in Africa, it is by and large the one thing that the entire continent can relate to and share common values. It is used in all cultures for different occasions. Essentially, the preserving of our culture is not only essential to know our personal identity, but to connect to the rest of the world through our culture.
The box-like shape of ordinary toasters are logical and lacking in aesthetics. This is the electric dunk tank of deliciousness.
